I was taking the train today and realized they've replaced and updated the signs on the East-West line - now Joo Koon is the new Boon Lay.
It suddenly struck me that there will be a day in time where most people wouldn't know the metaphoric symbolism of Boon Lay and I will be one of the old guys sharing to youngsters stuff like "a long long time ago, the mention of Boon Lay will strike feelings of fear and apprehension to people living in the East" and other nostalgic ramblings.
This is the reason why I often take photographs of my surroundings - there will be a time where everything will be gone. And given the frailities of the ability of the human memory you can't really trust your brain to remember every single mental snapshot.
