Accompanyed Shafiqak to attend this talk held by an experiential training and consulting company named Asiaworks on Thursday, together with her boss and colleague. During the talk the speaker focused on a "basic" training programme, a $1000 five day programme that focuses upon self-improvement and achieving your goals. Together with the rest of the people that attended the talk we did some activities that consist of us sharing our goals and aspirations.
Well at first I thought it was not too bad. Having attended a couple MLM talks I was more or less prepared for the friendly, hugging-happy members of the company. But it was at the end of the talk, where I was disturbed by the continuous persuading by Shafiqak's boss and colleague to make us sign up for the programme.
Smelled something fishy so it prompted me to do some research about the company on the internet.
What I found was quite surprising to me. And thinking back it all kinda made sense. The members of the company were so chirpy and friendly that it seemed weird. We Asians are not known for such public emotional displays. Also we are conservative and hugging people doesn't come that easily unless its between close friends and family members. Heh actually I don't even hug my family members.
Anyway I'm just glad to accompany her. Wouldn't have imagine her going alone and being bombarded by those people. It was really nice to see her after so long. Didn't feel any awkwardness at all. Somehow the chemistry between us just flowed naturally.
