I was a Sea Soldier in Changi Naval Base - which just translates into a security guard. Most of the time I was part of the RHIBs team, which was to do sea patrols around the boundary of the base and do checks for commercial ships that are coming into the base. The bad side of being in a RHIBs team are poor living conditions (especially during thunderstorm weather) and absolutely no form of entertainment. The perks however, are staying away from the office politics of the guardhouse, enjoying the view of sunrises and sunsets in the day and the stars at night (I have to say there is no where else better in Singapore to have a clearer look at the stars), and of course the opportunity to drive speedboats. Satisfy the 'speed demon' in me.
So here are me and my RHIBs team's achievements:
(1) Getting my rifle stolen by my fucking then-CSM Federick which I dunno for what reason especially when my vocation is on 24 hour live operation status.
Awarded 2 extras.
(2) Somehow getting the boat to go under the wharf, destroying part of the A-frame steel structure in the process.
Narrowly escaped from going into DB after giving a fake story about internal tidal streams.
(3) Caught fishing by my very own CO, which was illegal in the whole base.
Awarded 6 extras.
(4) Caught live in action watching TV by our my own CO yet again.
Awarded 3 extras. The TV that we smuggled in was confisticated.
(5) Got caught unshaven by my CO (again!). Worst thing is I tried to talk my way through and he found out later.
Awarded a $100 fine.
Heh Philip you put me in shame man.
