You know that Live Strong yellow rubber wristband started by that cyclist champ Lance Armstrong to raise cancer awareness? Nowadays we have the anti-racist (black and white) band, the Beat Bullying (blue) band, and the tons of different colour bands that represent different issues - light blue (prostate cancer), dark blue (child abuse, colon cancer), white (right to life, Alzheimer’s), dark green (ecology, leukaemia, organ donor) and pink (breast cancer)...
Ok, I know the money recieved from the sales of these bands will greatly aid those respective foundations/organisations. But what's the point if it amounts to nothing more than rolling up their sleeves and slipping on a rubber band? I have seen my campmates getting the bands just because it's cool and it's the in thing now. And I don't see anyone of them lifting a finger to do those "worthy causes" they claim to endorse. Fuck. When you do a good deed there is no need to tell the world about it. One is reminded of the Sermon on the Mount: “When you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing."

So unless you really mean it, don't wear it.
