some (little-known) laws of the game

As some of  you guys know, I'm now a certified Class 3 football referee. Being a referee has made me realised how little I know about the laws of the game as a footballer, so I'm compiling a list of rules that are little-known by most people for awareness sake (will be constantly updating this list):

  • An attempt at goal can be made at kick-off, there is no need to play a touch first.
  • You can put as many players (we usually see two) inside the centre circle at your kick-off.
  • There's no offside if the ball is played from a goal kick or throw in.
  • Taking your jersey off does not result in a caution - the reason why players get caution for taking their jerseys off is due to the rule of 'excessive celebrations'.
