When it comes to games my interest for epic role-playing games has dwindled significantly from the pubescent days where I would be eagerly awaiting the next installment of Final Fantasy. However EA's Dragon Age: Origins (which has gathered critical acclaim so far) has been occupying my weekends as I started the familiar routine of leveling up characters and killing ugly looking minions all over again.
I love epic RPGs that has a tight plot, an absorbing atmosphere, fully-realized characters, quality voiceovers and (most importantly) a non-linear game play. But strip away all of that, you will realise that for every single RPG that you spent 80+ hours on, 3/4 was spent on doing those minor or side quests that have absolutely nothing to do with the main plot.
No wonder parents always say playing games are a waste of time.
