One of the sure-win formulas of a successful television show is to evoke so much sexual tension between characters that it makes viewers tune in to every episode, hoping for a day where both characters finally cast whatever plot-ladened obstacle or excuse that is preventing their consumation. Some of my favourite on-screen pairs were Fran Fine and Maxwell Sheffield (Nanny), Chris and Rita (Silk Stalkings) and of course, Mulder and Scully (which took years to even get them to kiss.)
But it is also one of the most tricky devices in the writer's arsenal to use - resolved it too early or dragging it for too long results in (for lack of a better word) a less-than-optimal orgasm, pissing viewers off.
Part of the House's appeal apart from the medical mystery theme and the camaraderie of Hilson is the sexual tension between House and Cuddy. While actualizing Huddy will definitely satisfy alot of fans, we all know from history it usually leads to declining ratings afterwards.
So dear David Shore, please refrain them from having sex (well, at least for this season anyway) or even worse, committing the 'cardinal TV sin' of having a baby together - House is still way too early to jump the shark now.
