Yesterday at Anna's farewell dinner the subject of election was frequently mentioned.
Unable to cast my virgin vote living under Marine Parade GRC, which is good according to Yanling - saves me from having to suffer morning rallies (or morning calls.)
I'm never into the political scene and didn't really follow up much to the build up for this election. But here's my two cents.
One should cast for the opposition because of the party's capability and not just to spite PAP - chanced upon this speech by a Worker's Party member on the television where he said something along the lines like,
"You should vote for us because a country with no opposition is bad for the country!"
I'm pretty much pissed off with such shallow speeches from the opposition that only serves to capitalize on the emotional factor of the crowd. Why not focus about improvements and changes they would do for the welfare of the people if he gets elected? These issues were not brought up enough and instead we get things like unapproachable PAP members, NKF and Gomezgate which is literally an overblown piece of shit.
I'm not a PAP supporter - I just feel that the opposition isn't good enough at present. Look at that Dr Chee - that guy's just an idiot. But I thought Mr Chiam responded pretty well throughout the build up to the elections.
While I think PAP is doing alright, there is always room for improvement. I do not like the way they keep using upgrading as a carrot. The presence of opposition parties is good for my country, serving as a watchdog to the PAP.
Lets see how the result goes in a few hours time.
