facts facts facts

Here facts that I discovered in during these two days:
  • A camp-mate told me that the average Singaporean has only 5.6 sexual partners in his/her lifetime, lying second from bottom in a world survey with Japan in last place. (Japan in last position? You got to be kidding me. Heard of Jap porn? What kind of survey is that?)

Well I guess I must shoulder some of the blame for pulling that average down.

  • I was kind of surprised to find out that some cheese could contain animal parts. Rennet to be exact. (Its usually sourced from the abomasum or the 4th stomach of slaughtered new born calves, though some rennet are obtained from either fungal or bacterial sources.) It was discovered by an Indian vegetarian while he was munching a slice of cheese.

There you go, moral of the story : READ the labels of foodstuffs carefully to avoid sinning and going to hell.

  • Andy Lau is 43 this year. (insert gasps of amazement and surprise)

My goodness. Aging obviously isn't much of a problem for him. Just compare him to Anthony Wong of Internal Affairs (also 43), or James Gandolfini of The Sopranos (he's only 43? Isn't he like, 53?)

14th European Union Film Festival

My friend Anna asked me to accompany her to watch one of the films shown during the festival. A German film called Lichter (or Distant Lights). Pretty boring except for a character that sells mattresses and his helper. Sitting in the front row didn't help either (tickets are apparently hard to get for these "critically acclaimed" films). I wasn't affected by the sad, desperate tone that the director was trying to portray in the film.

Well, back to pop corn movies like Resident Evil Apocalypse.
